The Pointe de Chalune is a great days ski tour which can be accessed from the Col de l’Encrenaz at the back of the Les Gets lift system on the Mont Chery side. Despite being able to start from the bottom of a chairlift, this summit is far away from any ski resort. The route takes you up the pretty valley of Foron, which in the summer is farming pastures and in the winter becomes fun, undulating terrain covered in plenty of snow. The summit views are exceptional from this classic Chablais peak, with Mont Blanc to the south and Lac Leman to the north.
The classic route takes you back down the south east facing slope and is a fun, wide descent with no difficulties. If you are looking for more of a challenge then the descent possibilities off the Chalune are numerous, including a fantastic north east facing couloir of 45°.
Altitude: 2116m
Elevation gain: 850m
Orientation : SE for the classic route or N, NW
Slope angle : 30° (dependent on route of descent)
