A resort for the serious rider, with kilometers of lift accessed challenging backcountry terrain, where else for MINT Snowboarding’s Advanced Backcountry Course in 2020!
At 1475m with a summit height of 3568m, the isolated village of La Grave is a place of many wonders, a serious big mountain environment where a powder day and fresh lines last a week. Here you are more likely to see an Ibex than another person!
For the locals, La Grave is the place they escape too in order to avoid the queues. Having heard stories about its epic lines and snow those in the know would ski tour over from Les Deux Alpes before the lifts were built.
With only 2 lifts, and just a couple of secured un-pisted runs on the Glacier de la Girose, it offers nothing for beginner or intermediate riders but everything and more for the advanced experienced snowboarder who’s ready for some big mountain adventures. It is a true expert only resort. Think steep couloirs, exposed lines and more drops than you can shake a stick at.
The quaint and traditional town is sleepy in comparison to other resorts, the apres scene tends to be tales of the days adventures told over a cold beer. After a day of extreme snowboarding there’s no need for more, just an early night to recover and prepare for another huge day ahead is all you need!!
Without a doubt, La Grave is best experienced with a mountain guide to get the most out of the area and stay safe. On the Advanced Backcountry Course our IFMGA Mountain Guide David will take you to ride classic lines on the steep and long descents throughout this freeriding paradise. Expect an adrenalin fueled week of the ultimate backcountry adventures in the alps!
