The ‘Milky Way’ ski area is one of the largest ski areas in Italy, comprised of 6 linked ski resorts with Sestriere being the best base to explore the area. Located about 80km from Turin, the Milky Way borders with France and is connected to the French resort of Montgenèvre. The winter Olympics came to the Milky Way in 2006, bringing speedier lifts, which means less time queueing and more time riding! The ski area boasts a great snow record and high altitude slopes which take you up to 2700m from Sestriere. Offering everything from hidden open bowls and easy couloirs to exciting lines through the larch forests, the area is a haven for off piste snowboarding. With its vast and varied freeride terrain you can enjoy backcountry itineraries reaching 1500 meters of non-stop descent.
Our courses are run with a maximum of 6 in a group so that everyone receives excellent individual attention as well as maximising snowboarding time.
This course is run by Gigi Lozzi a local freeride legend, alongside a member of the MINT team joining as a tail guide. Between them, they have the knowledge and experience to take you safely exploring backcountry terrain, guaranteeing you an awesome week.
6 nights accommodation & 5 full days of backcountry guiding.

This course is a fantastic introduction to the world of off piste snowboarding. You will develop off-piste riding techniques and skills as well as gain knowledge of mountain safety and awareness. The vast area of the Milky Way ski area is the perfect location with a wide variety in backcountry terrain spread over Italy and France.
You are confident riding all pisted terrain, including red and black runs as well as able to tackle some ice and bumps in control (albeit, sometimes without much style). You have limited experience off piste, perhaps having ventured off the sides of the pistes within a resort. You wish to advance your riding in this direction in a safe environment, learning to ride powder with confidence as well as being able to deal with a variety of snow conditions and terrain types. You have a reasonable level of fitness.
