Intro


As always, to wrap up the winter MINT Snowboarding is offering an insanely great value “Freestyle Skills Week”. This freestyle camp will enable you to progress your snowboarding that little bit further and nail all those tricks you did not quite master before the season comes to a close.

The Skills Week is open to riders of all freestyle levels as coaching groups will be organised according to ability. So whether you are totally new to the snowpark or you wish to step up your skills, this is the perfect way to end the winter season with a bunch of like-minded riders.

Is it for me?


This is a fun, end of season snowboard camp that is specifically developed for intermediate to advanced level snowboarders who want to develop their freestyle riding. If you have no previous freestyle experience or are struggling to make progress on specific tricks, we will work with you throughout the week to progress freestyle snowboarding.

I would describe MINT as incredible. I did the Freestyle Camp. I gained the most adrenaline I've ever experienced on a snowboard. I cant wait to come back.

I would describe MINT as incredible. I did the freestyle camp. I went with the mindset I simply want to come away an improved rider, I never expected to have my comfort zones expanded so much. I've previously spent holidays charging down mountains as fast as possible. Never used to gain air off anything as felt completely uncomfortable in the air. I now feel so much more comfortable in the air and hitting jumps I never dreamt possible. I'm already looking at going back for more courses. I gained the most adrenaline I've ever experienced on a snowboard. Thanks for everything and cant wait to come back. Jon

TLDR: Amazing experience - thoroughly recommend! Joined the April freestyle camp as a solo boarder. Booking and details were easy, queries quickly answered through the online chat, transfers and flights booked and was good to go. Catered chalet through Northstar who arranged skipass and the chalet hosts, Hannah and Desiree were amazing. Catered for 3 veggies, one lactose out of a group of 8 and always happy to help with extras requests. One of the MINT team joined first night to run us through the week and then mid week and end of to catch up which is a nice touch, especially when armed with merch! :D 2 instructors Gerard and Francois both brilliant, catered to different levels, group split where needed but most of the trip together which allowed for individual tips and suggestions while riding. Very easy to have a chat during the lessons for in-depth analysis and suggestions on how exactly to improve. They pushed the level for all involved while keeping it safe but progressive. Group itself was uniquely random, mix of age and gender but you could barely tell - all absolute legends. Hope to see them all on the slopes again! Awesome time start to finish!

The Accommodation

Catered chalet in central Morzine

Accommodation for the Freestyle Skills Snowboard Camp 2023 will be provided by the awesome Northstar Chalets. Northstar are a small independent chalet company offering exceptional service in their chalets located in the centre of Morzine.

With the fully catered chalet experience, you can make the most of your time on the mountain and enjoy a real snowboard holiday. The Northstar chalets are all centrally located, meaning you can either walk to the slopes or jump on a free shuttle bus, depending on where you are heading that day. No waiting around for shuttle runs, means more time on the slopes or in the hot tub!

Shared rooms are with other solo travellers joining the camp in same sex, twin rooms.

Structure

Freestyle coaching takes place up on the slopes of Avoriaz, which at 1800m retains fantastic snow conditions in the spring as well as offering several great snowparks to ride. Each day a MINT Snowboarding instructor will take clients through a different 3 hour morning master class which will focus on the following:

Day 1: Airs & Grabs

Day 2: Jibbing & Buttery Stuff

Day 3: Spin Class

Day 4: Rails & Boxes

Day 5: Ride the Stash

Afternoons will be free to practice techniques, explore the epic parks, pistes and tree lined runs of the Avoriaz ski area and soak up the spring sunshine in one of the chilled out cafes or lively après ski bars.

  • Do I need a lift pass for my snowboard camp in Morzine?

    You will need a full Portes du Soleil ski pass for your snowboard camp in Morzine / Avoriaz so that we can make the most of the huge ski area available. Ski passes are not included in the camp fee. Passes can be purchased through your accommodation provider who will have them waiting for you upon arrival – so no need to waste time in queues.

  • What more is there to learn for an intermediate / advanced snowboarder?

    You are already an good intermediate / advanced level rider, but no longer progressing and not sure how to? Why take further tuition?

    There are loads of reasons to carry on with lessons and coaching, but one of the most important is to keep it fun and never stop progressing. Maybe a cliché, but it’s true ‘there is always more to learn’. Whether it be: taking advantage of the construction of your snowboard in order to carve a clean track around turns rather than skidding the board, stopping the back of your board skidding out at the end of turns on more challenging terrain, learning to do frontside rail slides on the nose or tail of your board, doing backflips on the airbag and then taking it to the jumps, making controlled, fluid turns on tricky off piste terrain rather than constantly stopping and starting, linking butters to nose presses to reverts to 180s…

  • Do I need to wear protective gear?

    Having a few falls is part of learning to snowboard. Having instruction will minimise this dramatically, however we still recommend the use of helmets and wrist guards, especially for beginners, kids and those learning freestyle. Bruises and injuries seriously affect your confidence… and confidence is key to learning to snowboard!

  • Why choose a snowboard camp?

    The main goal of our snowboard camps is to give you a fun filled holiday to remember, as well as gain tons of new skills on your snowboard.

    A snowboard camp gives you the maximum amount of coaching time throughout your week. It’s the ultimate way to progress your riding as you spend every day with your instructor, benefitting from structured weeklong course with professional coaching and guided practice time.

    You will spend a week with a group of likeminded individuals, who all share a passion for snowboarding, and will come away with the holiday with a bunch of new friends.

    Our camps are completely aimed at solo travellers, so no worries at all if you are booking alone.

  • Can I join a snowboard camp as a solo-traveller?

    All of our snowboard camps are designed with solo-travellers in mind or those travelling in a small group. They are a great way to spend a week progressing your snowboarding, with others of the same level… you are guaranteed to end the week with a bunch of new snowboard friends having had a ton of laughs along the way! The vast majority joining our snowboard camps are booking alone.

  • What is the age range on a snowboard camp?

    Anyone age 18 & up is welcome to join our adults snowboard camps. The participants on our camps are generally aged from early twenties to mid sixties! Our camps are always a complete mix of ages and nationalities which help make them so fun.

  • What do I need to bring for a snowboard camp?

    You will need your snowboard equipment + warm, water proof clothing. You can rent a snowboard, boots & helmet in resort if you don’t have your own. You will also need ‘normal’ clothing and good snow boots for walking around the resort.
