Our Mini Shred lessons are specially designed for children aged 3–6 years who are ready to discover snowboarding for the very first time. Through games, imagination and plenty of encouragement, our experienced instructors create a fun, supportive environment where young riders develop their riding, build confidence and can’t wait to get back on their snowboard each day.

Children as young as three can absolutely learn to snowboard with the right approach, the right instructor and lessons designed specifically for young children. Every lesson is tailored to your child’s age, confidence and personality, allowing them to learn at their own pace while having fun on their snowboard.

A Fantastic Time With MINT Once Again For Our Kids

The lessons are all about learning through fun whilst improving their technical ability and allowing them to believe in themselves.

Two years ago in Morzine our eldest two (then 7 and 5) had a brilliant time learning with Iban, while our youngest (2.5 at the time) had a couple of sessions with Anna that he absolutely loved. We've just finished a week in Avoriaz where the older two (now 9 and 7) had a week of group lessons, while the youngest (now 4) had four days of private lessons, all with Simone. We're so impressed with all the instructors that they've had from MINT, making the lessons all about learning through fun whilst improving their technical ability and allowing them believe in themselves. Rather than trying a new place every year, we'd rather come back to the same area just so that the kids can enjoy lessons with MINT again, and improve both their general riding as well as their freestyle skills. We'd love for them to have any of the instructors they've had before again, but we also know that if it's someone new next time they'll also be getting a guaranteed fantastic experience!

Kids first trip to the snow ????????

Cheers guys for making our kids first trip to snow an awesome one

MINT snowboarding were absolutely fantastic!! We booked our kids age 8 and 4 on to a few sessions to get them learning the basics of being on a board. By the end of the week our 8 year old was linking turns and shredding happily down the baby slopes !!! They even managed to get both of them up on the lifts which really surprised me. The guys at MINT were all friendly, approachable and easy for the kids to get on with . It was also easy booking process, nothing was too much trouble!!! Can’t recommend them enough! Cheers guys for making our kids first trip to snow an awesome one

Can’t recommend highly enough

My boys have progressed so well each year to be proper little mini shredders and can't wait to come back each season

Both my boys Oscar (8) and Ralph (5) have been riding with mint since they were 3 years old and can't wait to come back each season, they have progressed so well each year to be proper little mini shredders and really enjoy there lessons, over the years they've probably had 4 or 5 different instructors and they've got on really well with all of them, can't recommend highly enough

  • What equipment does my child need for snowboarding lessons?

    Your child will require a snowboard, snowboard boots, and bindings. Make sure the gear is properly sized for their height, weight and level as this is crucial to their progression. Whether you are renting or buying, your local snowboard shop will be able to advise you with this.

  • What hints and tips do you have for first time kids snowboarding?

    Give kids the choice – whether they want to ski or snowboard doesn’t matter as long as they are enjoying time on the snow.

    Don’t try and get them to learn both – trying to pick up both skiing and snowboarding at the same time will only be confusing, tiring and dramatically reduce progression in either one or both sports.

    Give them slope time in small doses – keep it short and sweet and don’t tire them out (hot chocolate breaks always go down well!).

    Don’t teach your kids yourself – it’s well worth the investment in lessons from an expert to speed up progression, keep them safe, make sure they have fun and (most of all) avoid any family arguments!

    Give kids an emergency snack – something to carry in their pockets for times of need (treat-size chocolate bars or boxes of raisins provide a pocket-friendly sugar hit).

    Mittens not gloves – they are way easier to get on and off, and usually warmer too. Invest in a good pair of mittens as your kids will have their hands in the snow a lot!

  • Should my kids learn to ski before learning to snowboard?

    We get asked this question all the time and the answer is absolutely no they do not! Kids can learn to snowboard from any age and we regularly teach kids as young as 3 years old who have never seen snow before, never mind a pair of skis.

    The important thing is to let them choose… if they want to ski then great, if they want to snowboard even better ????

  • What age can my kids start to snowboard?

    Kids can learn to snowboard from around 3 years old (same as starting them skiing). We regularly teach kids from as young as 3 years old. No child is the same so it does depend on the individual – strength, energy, desire to snowboard etc. We recommend giving your child the choice, let them tell you when they are ready to start snowboarding!

  • Is a ski pass included in my lessons?

    We do not include a lift pass in the price of our private or group lessons. You will need to purchase a lift pass prior to arriving for your lessons.
