The Off-Piste Intro Course is designed for riders who want to start exploring beyond the marked pistes but don’t have the time to commit to one of our Backcountry Course. Across two half days, you’ll be guided through the best local terrain, helping you ride the best snow available for the conditions on the day.
Off-piste riding demands a new set of skills. Steeper slopes, variable snow and natural features require more control, precision and adaptability than groomed runs. This course focuses on developing the technical movements and tactics that make off-piste riding smoother, safer and far more enjoyable.
Where you ride will depend on the snow and weather, but you can expect to experience some of Avoriaz and the Portes du Soleil’s classic off-piste itineraries.
This course is ideal for strong intermediate riders who have limited off-piste experience but want to start exploring natural terrain with confidence. You’ll ride terrain you probably wouldn’t tackle alone, while learning how to adapt your technique to steeper slopes, bumps, chopped snow and changing conditions. By the end, you’ll have the essential skills and confidence to take your riding further into the mountain.
