Tammy Esten and Giulia Rocco are stoked to be hosting the Women’s Snowboard Camp in Morzine for winter 2024! Expect great vibes, lots of laughs and a rad time snowboarding around the Portes du Soleil.
MINT Snowboarding founder Tammy Esten has been snowboarding (the world over) for over 20 years and has been coaching professionally for 18 years. In 2005, she became the first British, female snowboard instructor ever to be awarded the highly regarded ‘Carte Professionnelle’ allowing her to teach snowboarding at the highest level in the French Alps. In 2006, Tammy founded the highly successful MINT Snowboarding in Morzine, and still to this day remains the only British female Snowboard School director. With her roots firmly in the UK snowsports industry, she was a ROXY ambassador & has a wealth of experience coaching female snowboarders of all ages & abilities. She has a whole world of knowledge from both her personal riding & teaching experience. And it’s because of this, mixed in with her being a super friendly & fun lady, that we think she’s the best female snowboard instructor out there! And now she wants to share all of this with you!
Giulia Rocco is the empress of freestyle snowboarding, a fully fledged yoga guru, surfer and an all round awesome, happy instructor! Guilia started out on snow at the tender age of 2 years old, we can forgive her parents for starting her on skis as they did finally see the light and accepted snowboarding was Guilia’s true life’s passion, so at age 12 she ditched the skis to slide sideways. Giulia says “I love freestyle! I am in love with the sensation of flying. The air in my face, the ground missing under my feet. It’s for me one the best feelings in the world.”
Tammy and Giulia will work with you throughout the week on and off-piste to develop your technical riding and build your confidence and in all areas of your riding. Of course the aim of the week is to progress your riding to the next level, but you will achieve this whilst having fun, making new friends, and sharing an epic holiday with a group of likeminded females who all have a passion for snowboarding.
The Women’s Snowboard Camp is tailored specifically for females at Improver, Intermediate or Advanced levels, who want to develop their technical snowboarding skills all over the mountain. The main focus of the coaching throughout the week will be on technical progression with opportunities to develop your off-piste riding & freestyle skills.
For winter 2023/24 we are excited to be hosting the camp with Woodland Chalets in Farmhouse La Desmeuniere in Morzine. La Desmeuniere is a large farmhouse which has been beautifully renovated with plenty of traditional features in addition to all the luxury comforts you could wish for.Â
Tammy & Giulia have created a fun and engaging complementary evening program which aims to compliment the on snow day activities and coaching. This includes video feedback sessions to further improve your performance on snow and yoga sessions run by Giulia to allow you to stretch and unwind after a day on the mountain.
This camp runs for 1 week. It includes 5 half days of on snow coaching and a free day to practice your skills.
Coaching Group size:Â Max 6 (min 4)
Throughout the week you will learn and progress all aspects of your riding with a small group of girls of a similar riding level. Focusing on developing your core riding technique to progress your technical riding which will directly translate to improvements in your all mountain riding. Evening activities including snowboard specific pilates sessions and video feedback coaching which will all add to improve your snowboarding.
If you are a lower intermediate to advanced level snowboarder who is looking to build your confidence and to progress your technical, off-piste and freestyle riding all whilst hanging out with like-minded female riders, then this is the perfect snowboard camp for you. A minimum of 2 weeks snowboarding experience is required for this snowboard camp.
Below is a description of the skill levels suited:
Level 3. Lower Intermediate
You are happy linking turns on most runs, although sometimes coming into difficulty on steeps or challenging snow conditions. You wish to ride the whole mountain and find new challenges. We’ll give you the techniques to make your riding more dynamic, start carving your board, learn a few tricks and even take you off piste.
Level 4. High Intermediate
You are an experienced snowboarder, competent riding the whole mountain, in almost all snow conditions and terrain types. Even if you’re content with what you’re riding, a session with an top level instructor can help you enjoy it even more … and chances are you’ll find out there’s still plenty left in the tank. It’s time to increase your performance, dominate the mountain, master new tricks and venture further off piste.
5 half days of coaching in small groups. The group will be split into 2 with daily course content being varied depending on group riding level.
Day 1:Â Advancing riding technique. Tammy will build on your existing skills by analysing your riding and then focusing coaching where you need it most. Including equipment advice and optimising your setup.
Day 2:Â Coaching you in the movement skills which will enable technical progression and increase your board performance. Tammy will also film your riding (with zero pressure!) so she can analyse your riding and coach you based on your specific needs.
Day 3:Â You will implement the skills and techniques gained over the previous 2 days across a range of terrain and tasks to progress your riding. The aim is to enable you to use your equipment effectively and develop a fluid riding style all over the mountain.
Day 4:Â Introducing freestyle skills both in and out of the snow park, including switch riding.
Day 5: Off-piste riding. Tammy loves powder!!! She will take you beyond the lifts into ungroomed snow to further advance your riding technique on natural terrain and varying snow conditions. Backcountry adventure down Vallée de la Manche for advanced group. Similar adventure, if less challenging, for lower group.
