LES GETS – WHAT’S NEW FOR WINTER 19/20

There’s plenty of reasons to head to the ski resort of Les Gets, it really does have a little bit of everything. Wide, tree-lined slopes, family friendly; easy access the Les Portes du Soleil; an excellent selection of bars and restaurants; a charming, traditional village atmosphere, and it’s just an hour away from Geneva Airport. With winter is fast approaching we’re excited to inform you of lots of new developments happening in resort…

Development of Snow Making Facilities

First on the list is the large-scale investment that Les Gets has made in snow making facilities in preparation for this winter. This investment constitutes the largest in France this year on snow making, with a total budget in Les Gets of 7 million euros! The capacity for artificial snow will increase from 35% to 50% this winter thanks to the new Renar-diere reservoir.

This investment will ensure the most popular areas of resort are accessible from the start of the season. Care has been taken to protect the nature and environment around Les Gets and the environmental changes are being monitored. These new snow making facilities will enhance the natural snow cover and create a more snow sure resort.

New Pistes

Two new pistes will be created this winter in Les Gets. The first – an uphill route only – will be created on the Mont Chery face especially designed for ski touring and splitboarding. As both ski touring and splitboarding are becoming more popular, this uphill piste will be perfect for both fitness and for those just getting into the sport. It will allow beginners the opportunity to learn in a controlled environment.

The second piste will be a new, easier blue run to the bottom of the Perrieres Express Chairlift creating a more moderate level descent. The Perrieres is a very popular area with some great, long runs as well as a large free car park on the outskirts of the village where many skiers park for the day.

Luxury Picnic Area

For lunch outside during your day on the mountain, Les Gets are making a new luxury picnic area with BBQ’s, eating areas, charging sockets and WIFI! Situated just off the piste where the Rhodos red run and Violette blue run meet the picnic area will be easily accessed by all including walkers who can catch the Chavannes telecabine up and head along a walking path.

The Ranfolly Summit Viewpoint

Since winter 2019 there has been an incredible viewing platform at the top of the Ranfolly ski lift giving a beautiful panoramic view of the Mont Blanc Massif and across the Joux Plane Lake. This large, 27 m2, platform now has a new webcam installed for this winter allowing an easy update on weather and snow conditions in resort. You can also have your photo taken for free by an automatic  system activated  by your ski pass and have it sent directly to your phone.

O My Chery – Spa and Wellness Centre

Brand new and opening for December 2019 is a spa and wellness centre – the first of its kind in resort. Situated right in the centre of the village, O My Chery will allow you to recover after a day on the mountain and be fresh for the rest of the week. The spa will have 3 interconnected areas allowing adults to escape and unwind, and alternatively a separate area for families to take children and enjoy the child friendly pools and play area.
