Uzbekistan Backcountry Adventure Backcountry Camp

Explore one of snowboarding’s least discovered destinations on a fully guided backcountry adventure through Uzbekistan’s western Tian Shan mountains. Quiet mountains, expansive off-piste terrain and a country few snowboarders have explored combine to create an adventure that’s as much about discovery as it is about riding.

Intro

For centuries, Uzbekistan sat at the heart of the ancient Silk Road, connecting Europe and Asia through spectacular mountain landscapes and vibrant cultures. Today, the western Tian Shan mountains offer something very different from the destinations most snowboarders know. Quiet mountains, expansive off-piste terrain and remarkably few visitors combine to create an adventure that’s as much about discovery as it is about riding.

After an overnight stay in Tashkent, you’ll travel into the Chimgan mountains, your home for the next seven nights. Over six guided riding days, you’ll explore three distinct ski areas, with each day’s destination chosen according to the weather and snow conditions. Whether you’re searching for open powder fields, playful natural terrain or simply a destination few snowboarders have experienced, Uzbekistan offers a week of riding built around exploration and discovery.

Is it for me?

This adventure is designed for experienced off-piste snowboarders who enjoy lift-accessed freeriding and exploring varied natural terrain. With three different ski areas and the flexibility to follow the best snow and weather each day, every adventure offers something different. As with all backcountry snowboarding, some boot-packing might be necessary to access the best lines so a good level of fitness is required.

Rather than following a fixed itinerary, each day is planned around the conditions, so flexibility and a spirit of adventure are just as important as your riding ability. With a maximum of six riders, there’s plenty of opportunity to explore at a pace that suits the group.
