The Lofoten Islands, in Norway’s arctic north, are one of the most magical splitboard destinations on earth. Mountains rise up out of the sea, making it a rugged coastline dotted with sheltered bays and untouched summits.
The mountains of Lofoten offer incredible splitboarding variety with huge open slopes, wider couloirs, narrow chutes and open forests. There are peaks to suit all abilities, from those relatively new to splitboarding as well as options for big vertical days and couloirs.
In March, you can expect reliable snow with winter conditions allowing you to snowboard summit to the sea as well as a good chance of getting fresh snow during your trip.
The islands and fjords are linked by an excellent network of roads and bridges. Travelling around by minibus we have lots of flexibility to make best use of the prevailing weather as well as visiting and making ascents on the different islands that make up Lofoten.
Our base will be at the very comfortable Lofoten Ski Lodge in the town of Svolvaer, where there are lots of splitboard summits within easy reach. At the Lofoten Ski Lodge you can enjoy the comfort of cozy lounges, amazing food, renovated cabins and a big sauna with sea views.
Renting a boat. There is the option of renting a boat for the day as a means to access even more remote terrain for the ultimate splitboard adventure!
Arctic Surf. If conditions and time allow, there is also the possibility of surfing the world class waves of Unstad, surrounded by breathtaking views of snow-covered mountaintops and cliffs. Wetsuits and surfboards can be rented in Unstad.
